"Taking the Time to Live: The Healing Voyage of Pato Feo", a personal adventure penned by Captain Ron In 2009 Ron Fugere published his own book about his solo circumnavigation of British Columbia's Vancouver Island. The book, Taking the Time to Live: The Healing Voyage of Pato Feo describes his journey aboard his two-masted ketch over a span of five months, and his adventures along the way. Much more than just a voyage, his journey was one that happens when you break away from "life as you … [Read more...]
Hiking on Cypress Island to Eagle Cliff Lookout
After a whole season filled with false starts, either the result of visiting too early in the season, or having arrived too late in the day, Ron and I were finally able to make the hike to Eagle Cliff on Cypress Island (the trail to Eagle Cliff is closed between February 1st and July 15th to protect the fragile nesting environment found on that area of the island). Crabbing and Fishing in the San Juan Islands!

Armed with frozen salmon scraps as bait we dinghyed out to what looked like a popular spot and dropped the pot, returning a couple of hours later to check if any crab may have been unlucky enough to wander into our trap before we set of the Friday Harbor. While I … [Read more...]
Fourth of July at Friday Harbor
What better way to celebrate the fourth of July than with a front -row seat for the fireworks from the deck of a sailboat! We has a delightful cruise that included an overnight stop-over at Matia Island. The fireworks show was great and as far as we are concerned rivaled even the big extravaganza they put on over lake Union in Seattle any day! … [Read more...]
